Researchers believe that when used as a nutritional supplement it may have the same effects as pharmaceuticals in preventing arthritis pain.

Bromelain

Derived from the stem of the pineapple plant, bromelain has anti-inflammatory activity and works by blocking pro-inflammatory metabolites that accelerate and intensify inflammation. Its anti-inflammatory properties have caused it to be used in treating sports injury, and trauma. It has shown a success rate of 73% in reducing symptoms of arthritis such as swelling, pain and soreness.

Bone Minerals

Trace minerals such as molybdenum and magnesium also play a role in inhibiting joint degeneration. Molybdenum enhances the action of MSM in the body, while magnesium plays a role in hundreds of important metabolic processes including the formation of bones. Magnesium is also used in pain blocking drugs to help relax the muscles before surgery. In combination with calcium, it can relieve joint pains and strengthen the bones.
